COMPETITION PHOTO GUIDE
This guide is designed to show you the key photo angles required for your entry and help you understand exactly what we’re looking for from a judging perspective. While each category may have slightly different specifications, these examples will cover the majority of requirements and give you a clear standard to work from.
As you prepare your submission here's our tips for the best images:
• Shoot in natural daylight where possible. Avoid heavy shadows and yellow lighting
• Add extra lighting if needed to keep your images bright and even
• Clean your camera lens before you start (this makes a bigger difference than you think)
• You don’t need a professional camera, your phone is more than capable
• Take more photos than you think you’ll need so you have options
• Keep a spoolie on hand to perfect your set as you go
• Ensure your background is clean, uncluttered, and distraction-free
• Use a clean unstained rod for your lash lifts (so we can actually see the lashes)
• Remove anything that could identify you (branding, signage, uniforms, etc.)
For further guidance on specific categories see the Competition Guidelines page.

IMAGE UPLOAD REQUIREMENTS
You will be asked to upload your images to the online platform so please make sure these are high-quality images ensure your work can be properly judged and may be used for marketing or event presentation. Here's our advice around image uploads:
-
Use JPEG or PNG format only
-
Upload your images in their original size and highest resolution - do not compress
-
A standard iPhone image is typically around 3000-4000 pixels on the longest side (approx. 2-5MB file size)
-
Ensure your camera settings are on high resolution / highest quality before taking photos
-
Avoid sending images through apps like Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp as these reduce quality and file size
-
Upload directly from your camera roll or original file source wherever possible
-
Images should be sharp, clear, and in full rectangular format (not screenshots or compressed versions)
